Time for a Fast Effective Approach
While there are many psychotherapies coming into the wellbeing field, some with original and revolutionary philosophies and practices with the capacity to inspire a whole new approach to mental health and wellness. Over the last few years there has been a wave of innovation in psychotherapy due to frustration over outdated, slow and cumbersome methodologies. Approaches unable to deal with complex real-life situations in a way that offers fast, effective change or recovery for a large proportion of the population.
Lets look at a fairly typical case. John seeks the help of a mental health professional for his depression.
Six years ago his relationship fell apart and he lost his home in the ensuing financial settlement. About a year later he was diagnosed with depression.
John may choose from a range of treatment options.
In treating depression from a mental health perspective, John is likely to be recommended cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) with a psychologist. This commonly takes place in packages of 10-12 sessions with medication to manage the symptoms.
Alternatively John may choose a range of popular psychotherapeutic approaches requiring anything from 12 to 48 sessions or more for signs of improvement or recovery.
In both cases the approaches focus on the present as it is often deemed unnecessary and too difficult to delve into the past.
In the case of CBT the approach aims to manage symptoms by attempting to change cognitions and behaviour. As mentioned this is often accompanied by medication.
Other modalities may include a wide range of methodologies such as talk and expressive therapies or emotionally-focused and solution-focused approaches or positive psychology to name only a few.
While the approaches mentioned may have value, they are often relatively long-term in duration.
The problem is during therapeutic processes memories and feelings are stirred up.
Most psychotherapeutic approaches lack the effective techniques required to facilitate a speedy resolution of such disturbances within a short time frame.
This results in many people leaving sessions feeling disturbed or re-traumatised which makes their situation worse rather than better.
Here we begin to see the limitations of the approaches in use.
I know many therapists would say “the therapeutic process takes time. People should be prepared to go though some discomfort in order to arrive at a better place, down the track.”
While there may be some truth in this, I felt there must be a better way.
I am a psychotherapist and Family Constellations practitioner. I regularly use Family Constellations for the resolution of systemic patterns. By systemic I mean those issues that are linked to family of origin. While non-systemic issues are linked to the biography (events) of a person’s life.
I noticed I found traditional counselling and psychotherapy felt vague, cumbersome and slow, compared to the fluidity, efficiency and effectiveness of the Family Constellation process.
When what we do feels slow and ineffective we need to ask what is wrong.
I posed the question, “Is it possible to create a fluid, efficient and effective approach for non-systemic issues, capable of resolving core issues effectively within a session?”
This question led me to reflect on my wide experience of psychotherapy approaches including hypnotherapy and Family Constellations. Through this I realised the wealth of skills and knowledge at my disposal.
From this came a period of synthesis and fine-tuning of the essential aspects of many former and current psychotherapies. When this was combined with aspects of Family Constellation methodology and also hypnotherapy practice, nothing was lost and much was gained.
I have named the resultant fusion that evolved for personal issues, Emotional Mind Integration (EMI).
For John introduced earlier, 3-5 sessions of EMI would be sufficient for recovery of his depression and associated issues. This has been my experience with many such clients over years of practice.
EMI covers many bases in one unified approach. It is psychodynamic (in locating the cause), emotionally-focused, person-centred, experiential, solution-focused and brief. It may be used to resolve disturbed emotional-mind states quickly and sensitively. These include depression, anxiety, panic attack, phobias, low self-esteem and a wide range of traumas including domestic violence, sexual abuse and the underlying dynamics of addiction. Of course more complex issues may require more sessions.
In the development of EMI I have formed a modality that spans the hypnotic and psychotherapeutic arenas that are specific for non-systemic issues. EMI takes place in a light mind/body-based trance. Relaxing the conscious mind so as to locate disturbed ‘emotional mind states’ of particular issues. Disturbances follow healing pathways before being integrated safely through EMI processes. This is a sensitive, person-centred rather than a didactic or prescriptive approach.
EMI forms a new and powerful modality that is a perfect companion for Family Constellations in forming a complete and wholistic approach for dealing with the personal and systemic aspects of who we are. The dual approach is Rapid Core Healing.
For John EMI would facilitate coming out of depression. Assist him to find a new perspective or acceptance of his failed relationship. Come to terms with the loss of his home and assist him in creating a new sense of self by taking what has been of value into the present. From here he would be able to consider how he would like to live and navigate his life with more confidence.
All this in a short time span, with each issue resolved to a settled emotional and cognitive place before leaving the session. For most people (excluding those with more serious metal health issues) 3-5 sessions are required.
I dream of a world where depression, anxiety, panic attack and trauma are easily treated in an efficiently manner that is respectful of human experience and in service of health and harmony and in a way that is beneficial to individuals, relationships, family, society, nations and the world.

The Missing Link for Family Constellation practitioners Yildiz Sethi
The missing piece for Systemic Family Constellations practitioners and coaches:
in developing a truly wholistic service to your clients or customers.
- As a Systemic Constellations practitioner or coach, do you sometimes have really difficult cases that don’t respond to your normal approaches, or stubborn issues that are resistant to change?
- Have you ever gone to a very difficult, deep place with your client and not known what to do?
Don’t blame yourself or the client. The missing link for constellation practitioners is Emotional Mind Integration (EMI) a neuro-trance psychotherapy.
A perfect fit for Systemic Constellations.
At first as a Systemic Family Constellations practitioner in a euphoria of initiation, I felt that constellations could be used for most if not all human struggles, dilemma’s and issues. However, over time even though the constellation process remains a perfect choice for systemic issues, it became apparent that it is not appropriate for all issues. Over time I realised there are at least two sources of disturbances and disfunctions. The systemic coming from our family systems and the purely person disturbances and trauma from our daily life and experiences. The Constellation approach is perfect for working with systemic issues, but not necessarily appropriate or effective for working with personal issues.
In my earlier days in this work after coming to an understanding of the personal and systemic aspects that required different approaches, I would work with the systemic aspects of an issue and then go back to my counselling, clinical hypnotherapy, NLP or EFT tapping to attempt to assist clients who had issues outside of the purely systemic. This frequently felt sporadic, confused and clunky compared to the ease and flow of the constellation process. In addition, I was aware of using a collection of haphazard approaches that frequently came from different or non-complimentary therapeutic foundations. I began to consider how I could find a way of working that was more congruent with the constellation process in terms of ease, flow and effectiveness. A way of working that was client-centred, brief and solution-focused for the personal repressed materials that were underpinning symptoms.
Over at least 15 years of working with people in my private practice I developed Emotional Mind Integration (EMI). This is a deeply foundational modality that is simple synthesis of the key healing principles of many former approaches. (Easy to use, after training). EMI is informed by constellations theory and the appropriate former and present day psychotherapeutic, hypnotherapy approaches and neuroscience developments. The EMI modality is used to locate and resolve core personal issues for a wide range of personal human experience, such as mental health and trauma to personal development sabotage patterns, involving growth and success.
This also involves the treatment of trauma related issues quickly and without re-traumatisation, including sexual abuse.
Like the Systemic Constellations process, it is deeply foundational in addressing the core requirements for wellness, it may be used across a wide range of personal issues to resolve beliefs, emotional triggers, anger, sadness, depression, anxiety and panic, the underlying dynamic of addictions and much more.
This approach gives you the skills in psychotherapy, hypnotherapy and neurotherapy to work with more stubborn cases for better results. Clearing neural pathways of personal disturbances and trauma deeply, safely, efficiently and completing with integration each session.
Now I work with Systemic Family Constellations when this is appropriate and Emotional Mind Integration for Personal issues and frequently, I use both to assist in resolving both sides of an issue for a complete and wholistic approach in a brief, experiential way.

Its time for a new wave in Psychotherapy Training
Emotional Mind Integration EMI is a concise, elegant and complete modality for helping people with a wide range of personal conflicts, disturbed emotional mind states and trauma. I developed this modality as a response to a problem I had with the traditional approaches I was using.
I have been using Family Constellations since 2005. I love its philosophy and practice as it is perfect for systemic issues. By this I mean those patterns or feelings we carry for and with our family of origin. However, over the years I have found that not all issues fit best into the systemic framework. Some of our issues come more from our biography specifically.
What are biography issues?
These are personal issues that arise from the events and choices of our life that result in distress or inner conflict. Generally they do not come from Family of origin.
I am aware that there is a fine and often invisible line between the systemic and non-systemic, but when issues are not systemically based I have found the Family Constellation process provide awareness but may not be the most effective approach for resolution.
The problem for me once I had become a Family Constellation facilitator working with systemic issues is that I found working with non-systemic issues with my counselling and hypnotherapy training was clunky, awkward and slow or ineffective in comparison.
This led me to consider how I could take what was useful from my Constellation experience into a new way of working specifically for personal issues in a way that was fluid and effective so as to compliment the Constellation process for non systemic issues.
I have never accepted the belief that effective psychotherapy must be a long-term approach and cannot take place relatively rapidly in a few sessions. Just because it may have taken years to develop an issue, it doesn’t have to take along time to resolve. I believe that with present knowledge of the brain, mind, emotions and neural science and the best of former psychotherapies it is possible to formulate new and revolutionary approaches if we go outside the box of conventional thinking to allow a new approach to emerge.
Over time I have fused the best of former and present day modalities, valuable client experience and the latest findings in neural science in forming a neuro-trance-psychotherapy called Emotional Mind Integration (EMI). EMI is embedded in a wholistic, mind, body philosophy that has unique techniques for locating the root of present day issues quickly. This takes place through neural pathways via body senses, the mind and emotions and through specific EMI processes for resolution and integration. All within one session.
As the name suggests EMI utilises trance to locate neural pathways and apply effective and rapid psychotherapy so that 3-5 sessions is often sufficient for a resolution of a wide range of personal issues of depression, anxiety, trauma related issues, sexual abuse and the underlying dynamics of addiction.
The modality is person-centred, solution-focused and empowering in facilitating the client in finding their own unique Healing pathway to recovery. It comes out of constellation, humanistic and phenomenological philosophy that is highly respectful of the client as it is client centred. This is the perfect companion to the Family Constellation methodology that works.
The combination of EMI and Family Constellations is a complete wholistic approach called RCH Rapid Core Healing. They fit together like a jigsaw puzzle in making a wholistic approach for systemic and non-systemic issues in one modality. In creating RCH and EMI I have not attempted to reinvent the wheel as I utilise much of our former psychotherapeutic knowledge along with present day science into a practical functional approach.
I have been training people Emotional Mind Integration (EMI) training with an inspirational group of practitioner from 5 Australian states. They have been delighted to learn this complete, unique and stand-alone neuro-trance-psychotherapy in only 6 days. In return I was delighted to find that they were able to use it competently within the training period.
I believe this is the answer to helping many people out of suffering that is far more effective than the approaches currently in use.
Former students who do not have a counselling, psychology, social work or hypnotherapy background who have done Family Constellations training with me have often asked if they should do further studies in those areas so they can be recognised as practitioners and have professional insurance.
EMI and RCH is the answer to such would-be practitioners.
In doing these courses, Family Constellations, Emotional Mind Integration or the complete Rapid Core Healing you may be registered with IICT (International Institute of Complimentary Therapies) and receive insurance for your practice as a duty of care to your clients. This is an important development for those who wish to be practitioners.
Those who have completed Family Constellations and EMI training may elect to do the final modality Rapid Core Healing (RCH) to become Rapid Core Healing practitioners if they choose.
RCH is a Master practitioner level of training, in providing participants with knowledge and skills in Systemic Constellations, Personal non systemic issues and the use of trance.
Further, EMI training enables participants to be able to use it with clients straight away.
I visualise a time in the not too distant future when students of psychotherapy will be able to gain effective knowledge and skills and on going support and professional development through training of modalities such as Emotional Mind Integration, Family Constellations and complete approach such as Rapid Core Healing. The knowledge will be out that such training does not have to cost a fortune in time and money and yet provide high training standards. Such modalities will have become known for their effectiveness at alleviating suffering in a world that knows that positive change is both an expectation and a human right to wellbeing.
